Which version of Kindle Fire do I have?

We can determine which version of Kindle Fire you have by the first 4 characters in your device's Serial Number. You can find your device's serial number by following these instructions:

  1. Start from the device's home screen.
  2. Click the Gear icon to bring up a ribbon of some settings. The option we need isn't there, so click the More option in the ribbon.
  3. You should now be in a full Settings screen. Click the option labeled Device (you might have to scroll the screen up or down to find it).
  4. In the Device screen, look for an option labeled Serial Number. It is 16 alphanumeric characters. Copy down the first 4 characters and let us know what they are. We can use those characters to determine which version of Kindle Fire you have.
